The following are six basic strategiesto follow each time you take a training test. #1: Print Out the Test and Take It on Paper Since the SAT is a paper test (rather than a PC test), it's ideal to take the training tests on paper. Likewise, ensure youdo your scratch work legitimately on the test.Don't get out independent bits of scratch paper to use since on the genuine test you won't get any scratch paper (however will be permitted totake notes straightforwardly in your test booklet). Getting ready for the SAT resembles preparing for a long distance race: you have to guarantee you have enough endurance to endure the test. And the most ideal approach to do this is to take each training test at a time, as though you were taking the real SAT. The Websterââ¬â¢s Collegiate Dictionary defines prostitution as ââ¬Å"the act or practice of engaging in promiscuous sexual relations especially for moneyâ⬠(ââ¬Å"Prostitutionâ⬠par. 1). Such bolstering, accompanied by a significant increase in sexual solicitation activities and human trafficking, brings with it the deterioration of these enslaved women (Poulin par. 19). Decriminalizing prostitution presents one of the root causes of sex-trafficking, to the extent that human trafficking promotes the delivery of people into slaveryââ¬âa crime equally as old as civilization (Raymond par. 9). ââ¬Å"Around the world, for those in desperate poverty, the false promise of a better life often draws victims into the control of criminals who then traffic and enslave themâ⬠(Bales par. 1). ââ¬Å"Many victims of trafficking of persons begin their journey by consenting to be smuggled from one country to another. Have you ever wondered why it is that all we seem to have learned from you is how to corrupt our societies and how to be tyrantsâ⬠(Kincaid, 34)? Kincaid wanted the colonist to realize it is by their own faults and their imperfections that Antigua is in the state that is in now. Kincaid also believed that colonialism caused the political corruption that has defrauded Antigua of many rights, such as the right to knowledge. She believed that the Ministers of Antigua gained knowledge to govern from the ââ¬Å"Ill-manneredâ⬠British who paved the way for them (34). Throughout her book she has made it very clear that the library is an important source of knowledge for her as it should be for other Antiguan s as well. She reminisced on her childhoods experiences at the library as her own ââ¬Å"sacred place, a cool retreat from the colonized world and an opening to the greater world away from the islandâ⬠(Byerman, 94). On page 48, we found out that St. John, the largest city and capital in Antigua,

Role of Supervision and Leadership
Question: Discuss about theRole of Supervision and Leadership. Answer: Introduction: Intent of the Journal Article This article focuses on the relationship between employee and their managers in an organizational leadership and the way emotions associated with them affects their job satisfaction and overall mental health in a typical work environment (Mark and Smith, 2012). At first, it examines the direct effects of the managers and supervisors and their leadership behaviours which affect the expressed emotions, experienced emotions and the emotional control the employee's experience (Weiss and Cropanzo, 1996). Then it explains that the leadership behaviours of managers can lessen the impact of employee's emotional regulation in a positive way. For research, experience sampling methodology and within-person method is done to focus leadership behaviours and within-persons co-variations (Schaubroeck and Jones, 2000). Research Methods Used by the Authors According to Bono et al. (2007), participants were selected from a wide variety of professions ranging from the case manager, lab technician, nurse, human resource among many. A total of 57 employees were selected from a health organization with an average of 41 years old and mixed races including Caucasian, Asian and African-American. Three types of research were carried out: experience sampling data, survey data, and a leadership behaviour survey. The first one was made by handing a handheld computer to the participants to record their job satisfaction, momentarily stress, and experiences over the course of two weeks. The second one was a paper survey which was general in nature, where they provided stress and job satisfaction data. The third one, leadership behaviour supervisors survey was done from an organization. For leadership behaviors of supervisors', measurement was done using 20-factor MLQ or Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire as it is a commonly used measure for measuring transformational leadership validity and reliability. Responses were recorded on a scale of 5. Job satisfaction was measured using the same 5 point scale and using Brayfield-Rothe items. They were questioned next on their interaction with peers if they were at work after the signaling off the PDA. Experiences were recorded next by selecting three negative and three positive emotions. Positive ones include enthusiasm, happiness and optimism and negatives ones included irritation, anger, and anxiety. Stress was measured next by asking the participants that they were feeling stress and again noted on a scale of 5. The examiners addressed the hypotheses 1 and two by analyzing supervisor's role in experiences of an employee to find the between interaction partner and affected experiences of the employees. The next examina tion undertaken was to test the theory of transformation leadership behaviors of supervisors in relation with employee relations across interactions between co-workers and customers. Besides the given method, the examiners also hypothesized a moderating effect for same the leadership. Identify Arguments of the Article The study has been divided into different parts, and hypotheses are given for every situation. As stated by Nixon, Brukà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã Lee and Spector (2016), the first hypothesis tells that employees experience more positive emotions when interacting with co-workers and clients than with employers, and the reason is that employers monitor the behaviour, evaluate performance and oversee work of the employees which brings discomfort as they prefer more autonomy. Constant monitoring also brings about irritation, restraints emotional expressions and behaviour (Ryan and Deci, 2000). Since the negative interactions of the mood of employees were found to be about five times stronger than the effects of positive mood, therefore, any positive effect of a good mood is easily overshadowed by negative mood (George and Zhou, 2001). The second hypothesis tells that there is a positive correlation between managers and leaders when the transformation leadership managers affect the employees, and the positive vibe lasts throughout the whole workday (Green, 2014). Transformational leadership among managers brings about happiness, enthusiasm and prevents triggering of anger, frustration or anxiety in employees (Sy et al., 2005). As opined by Humphrey, Ashforth and Diefendorff (2015), the third hypothesis states, regulating emotions like faking positive emotions and hiding negative emotions is positively related to stress in individuals and negatively associated with individual job satisfaction. Emotional regulation is a process where employees chose to behave and show their expressions in a certain way as to conform to the environment of the workplace (Little, 2000). The article includes research from other studies which shows this phenomenon to be harmful to the employees as it means involves pretending which is not authentic. Suppressing emotions said to have the greater strain on cardiovascular, cognitive and physiological health (Beal et al., 2013). The fourth hypothesis states that, when managers and leaders engage in transformational leadership, the more focused is a positive balance between job satisfaction and emotional control than when the focus on the leadership is less (Hackman and Johnson, 2013). When transformational leadership is stronger, the link between stress and emotional regulation is very less compared to when the transformation leadership is weaker. With this leadership, the employees felt more consistent and self-congruent with own values and interests. The study presents two theories of Goal Self-concordance and self-determination theory to show that employees at workplace experience feel which leads separation of self and depersonalization (Sheldon and Elliott, 1999). It says that transformational leaders are not only empathetic, but the managers who practice the leadership style also find the greater social support of their employees (Zapf, 2002). Practical Implications of the Journal Article According to Brief and Weiss (2002), many organizational kinds of literature speak in details about the leaders and managers mood with affecting emotions and moods, but there has been little research data to back it up. In contrast, this study proposed a research study for the same. The outcome of this study was that when the employees did interact with co-workers, customers, and clients, there was a rise in a positive mood, optimism, enthusiasm, and happiness than communicating with supervisors (Bersade, 2002). The same level of increase in mood was observed when the employees reported to their supervisors who practiced transformational leadership as this leadership acts as a buffer for the employee's moods. By this study, it was also found out that, employees who regulate their emotions at work tend to have less job satisfaction even though the effects of it were short-lived (Lee and Allen, 2002). In comparison, the effects of stress were more long-lasting. There were some practica l limitations too of this study. The examiners stated that they could not examine the subgroups of employees in a service, sample studies were taken only from one organization, most of the participants were populated by females, and therefore the same cannot be held true for men (Pugh, 2001). How to Work with an Indecisive Boss
How to Work with an Indecisive Boss Thereââ¬â¢s an unspoken truth in the world of work- although we usually get to pick our jobs we donââ¬â¢t get to pick our bosses. If weââ¬â¢re lucky, we get to work with the sort of boss whose a pleasure to be around- fair, pleasant, supportive, decisive, and encouraging. If this is your reality, then count your blessings and try to appreciate your situation. However, if you have a boss whoââ¬â¢s something else, then it can pose some real challenges. One category of tricky boss includes the one who never seems to know what he or she wants. They either constantly waste time dragging their heels and delaying making any type of clear decision, or theyââ¬â¢re forever changing what they tell you to do. Both of these types can be quite difficult to work with and can really impact your ability to perform your job effectively. But itââ¬â¢s not exactly easy to confront a boss who never seems to know what they want- so what do you do when youââ¬â¢re in this position?Learn your bossââ¬â¢s quirksTry your best to get to know your boss- including their decision-making behaviors and habits- as well as you possibly can over time. Although it can be tricky to expect the unexpected, as you get to know your boss more you may get better at anticipating how theyââ¬â¢ll react to any given project or during any key decision-making moment, which may help minimize the ill-effects of their indecisive nature.Stay calm and kind, even when you want to screamYour best bet is to remain patient and do your best to anticipate your bossââ¬â¢s needs- and shifts- and try to work with them, not against them. First off, an indecisive boss is usually an anxious person by nature, and adding to their anxiety by developing an adversarial relationship with them will only serve to make matters worse. With the way many workplaces are structured, the fact is that you have to answer to your bossââ¬â¢s professional whims, as fickle as they may be. Once you know your boss oper ates this way, brace yourself and expect it. Knowing the madness is coming makes is a little easier to swallow. When you find yourself at a crucial point that requires a final decision from your boss, try and make the moment as stress free as possible. Also, do your best to reduce any external distractions that may make it challenging for your boss to concentrate and focus on the decision at hand. If itââ¬â¢s your job to present your boss with information so they can make a decision, be as clear and straightforward as possible. Always try to approach your boss in a calm and patient manner when a decision needs to be made- this will help put them in their best mindset to determine what they want at any given time.Keep a paper trailAlthough these strategies may prove helpful in a variety of decision-making moments, chances are it wonââ¬â¢t completely fix the problem. The truth is, itââ¬â¢s hard for a leopard to change its spots. A boss who doesnââ¬â¢t know what they want wi ll likely remain this way- itââ¬â¢s just human nature to revert to your ââ¬Å"core programmingâ⬠and making lasting change is hard. That said, it would be helpful for you to get things from your boss in writing, so if they change their mind later on they canââ¬â¢t hold you accountable if projects go over budget and off schedule. Physical proof is always a good way to minimize the effects of their indecisiveness on your productivity and work reputation.A boss who never seems to be able to make up their mind and determine what they want when a decision needs to be made can be a challenging situation for you, but it doesnââ¬â¢t have to be an insurmountable obstacle. Use the strategies and advice provided here to make the best of a tough situation, and hopefully with a little time, experience, and luck, things will get better (or your next boss will know what they want and when they want it).

Summarization for chapters of the weather makers, and The author name Essay - 2
Summarization for chapters of the weather makers, and The author name is Tim Flannery - Essay Example Although it is cheaper for some countries to produce electricity from wind power as compared to burning fossil fuels, the chief disadvantage of wind is that it is not always blowing. It has also been argued that the wind turbines that are currently in use are responsible for the killing of many birds each year, this argument has been effectively countered by Flannery who points out that in the United States, more birds are killed by cats than those killed by turbines (Flannery, 267-271). Chapter 30: Nuclear Lazarus? This chapter focuses on discussing nuclear energy. Nuclear energy is a crucial alternative source of energy in light of the emerging climatic issues. James Lovelock, who is the originator of the Gaia Hypothesis pleaded for the expansion of nuclear energy programs in 2004. Nuclear power plants are however complicated to construct and their safety is a huge concern in their construction. Disasters such as the Chernobyl disasters are always being brought up in discussions of nuclear power safety. With the increasing movement of tectonic plates, more and more geothermal power sources are seen to be constantly coming up on the earthââ¬â¢s surface (Flannery, 272-278). ... Flannery also introduces the reader to the idea of CAT vehicles that efficiently run on compressed air and are extremely eco-friendly. Flannery also points out that despite their harsh emissions, one redeeming element of airplanes is that the contrails that they create help in reducing the average amount of light that manages to reach the earthââ¬â¢s surface, a factor that help in keeping the earth slightly cooler (Flannery, 279-283). Chapter 32: The Last Act of God? It is projected that human influences will eventually overtake natural factors. Flannery evokes the question of ââ¬Å"what is the price of this injustice?â⬠This question is in reference to the story of most of the worldââ¬â¢s powerful nation not only polluting, but also preventing rain from falling in developing nations. An example being the Inuit whose traditional food sources such as bear, caribou and seals are fast disappearing as an effect of global warming. The Inuit land is also seen to be fast disappe aring. The Kyoto Protocol has allowed only the ratifying nations to pollute within certain given limits (Flannery, 284-289). Chapter 33: The Carbon Dictator This chapter mentioned Paul Crutzen who once helped save the world from ozone depletion and is yet again, back trying to help with the current climate issue. Flannery draws up three different possible climate change outcomes. The first being that human response is too slow and results in the end of the earth as it is currently known. The second scenario allows for humans to avoid destruction by acting in good time, while the third possibility is where by establishing an Earth Commission for Thermostatic Control, we reduce emissions just enough so as to

The story of an hour Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
The story of an hour - Essay Example It was not a glance of reflection, but rather indicated a suspension of intelligent thought.â⬠The newly bereaved widow goes from deep despair to unspeakable joy while looking out a window. The writer/narrator does not appear to view marriage favorably, but as a self-limiting trap. Lives of ââ¬Å"quiet desperationâ⬠(Henry David Thoreau) is also for women. Consider the following: The monstrous joy â⬠¦She knew that she would weep again when she saw the kind, tender hands folded in death...But she saw beyond that bitter moment a long procession of years to come that would belong to her absolutely â⬠¦ And yet she had loved him--sometimes. Often she had not. She cared for her husband, she missed him, but ââ¬Å"Spring days, and summer days, and all sorts of days that would be her own. She breathed a quick prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder that life might be long.â⬠Mrs. Mallard looks forward to the future until a key turns in the lock, bringing about her own fatal heart attack. The irony is apparent. Did she die of shock at seeing the living apparition, or because of instant sadness of knowing he was still alive?

Formal Reality And Objective Reality
Formal Reality And Objective Reality To begin this approach, Descartes introduces formal reality and objective reality. Formal reality is said to be what humans can actually see and prove to be their senses, and objective reality is what is in their minds. Descartes goes on to say, Hence it follows, both that nothing can come from nothing, and that what is more perfect cannot derive from what is less perfect (Third Meditation 29). In this quote Descartes believes that nothing can come from nothing: a person cannot get one from zero; for an effect to happen their must be a cause, and an effect must have as much reality as its cause, as so, something that is perfect cannot come from something that is less perfect. For example, it is not possible to have hot water without a thing that creates heat. Also, electricity is what causes a light bulb to turn on, but a light bulb cannot cause electricity. After realising this, Descartes uses this argument to sum up how the idea of God came to be. He believes that he is not perfect and has limits, so how can the idea of an all knowing and all powerful being with no limits be even thought of. All real ideas come from other real ideas, and even unreal ideas have real qualities in them. A flying pig might not be real, but the idea comes from a pig, and a flying object put together; fairies might not be real, but the idea comes from putting flying qualities to a person. So this Idea of God came from something as real as God, and since there is nothing on earth that is as real as God, we must have been born with the idea, so therefore God exists. In Descartes meditation his premises are structured. One must first accept that the idea of God is more real than anything that is limited; after accepting that, one must accept that an effect cannot be greater than its cause; and after accepting that, one must accept that the idea of God cannot be thought off with out a cause, or without it being real. Once you have accepted all of these it is clear to say that God exists, but if one denies any one of these premises the conclusion fails. Although Descartes believes to have solved the existence of God, many other people such as Atheists have went on to argue that God does not exist. A popular argument against the existence of God is the paradox of the stone: Can God create a stone so heavy that he cannot lift?'(Arguments for Atheisms). God is known to have unlimited power, so if God cannot create a stone more powerful than him, then he does not have unlimited power; if he is able to create such a stone that he cannot lift, then he still does not have unlimited power. So either way God is not all powerful; something that is all powerful can do everything, and since God cannot do everything, God does not exist. Though this argument is seemingly legit, there are many arguments that proves its falseness. Descartes believes that God can do the logically impossible, so God can make two plus two equal five. However, Thomas Aquinas (A Christian philosopher) believed that God can possibly do anything, but he cannot go against the laws of logic. With Aquinas argument, it proves that God cannot do something, which has to be false because God has to be able to do everything. So if we go with Descartes argument that God can make two plus two five, it also means that God can Create a stone that he cannot lift, and then lift it. This argument may seem difficult to understand, but Descartes tells us not to try and understand God because it is not possible. This proves that the argument of the paradox is false, a simple way to prove that it is false, is that God is known to be a spirit that cannot be seen, but here the paradox argument gives God human qualities (The Paradox of the Stone). The stone argument failed to prove that God does not exist, so Descartes argument about Gods existence still stands. But looking at it in a different way, say that a person is stuck on an island, and this person cannot escape, so he/she builds some type of shelter to be protected from the bad weather such as, rain and cold temperatures. Now, this person does not know what perfect is, but while building this shelter, this person will not attempt to make it bad seeing he/she wants good protection; this person will attempt to make a perfect shelter, so can the idea of something perfect not come from our selves? Descartes answer to this question would be no: everything has its opposites, and one opposite cannot be without the other. For example, there cannot be heat without cold, and one would not know what pain is without joy. Which must mean that God exist because humans are imperfect, and the opposite of imperfect is perfect. It is very difficult to disprove Gods existence, but if God exists, and everything has a cause; what caused God? Scientist hold this point strongly as to disprove the existence of God. Descartes, however, says not to try and understand God, but his whole meditation attempts to find if God exists which is trying to understand. Descartes somehow goes around the question what caused God. In the world we live in today, one should not be surprised if one does not believe that God exists. It is simple, in our society proof is necessary; if a close friend was to threaten to kill themselves, it would not be all that believable, but when the friend shows a weapon to be used, then the belief will increase. Also, one cannot go to a court room and say to a judge, He is the murderer, you might not understand your honour, but he killed an old lady. One would need some type of convincing proof to prove that someone is a murderer. It is just how the world works. Descartes believes that God is not a Deceiver, and that God is supremely Good, if it is so, why does God allow suffering? If a father, that is known to be good, one day sees his twenty three year old son on the street begging for food and money, and the father realizes this and walks away, is it reasonable to say that the father is good? Not at all, in fact one would believe that the father has abandoned his son. This argument has been used countless times to disprove the existence of God. Arguments can go both ways, and this argument about the existence of God is ridiculously difficult. One can conclude that God exists, but until physical evidence or something more real is shown, saying that God exists will just be a theory, at least in this world. Perhaps if one was in a world where there is simply one religion and one belief, then the idea of a God would be easy to believe, even if it is false. So Descartes has reasonable ideas of the existence of God, but as long as we are in a world filled with many different race, religion, and ideas, Descartes argument about Gods existence will always be plausible.

Poor Infection Control
Poor Infection Control This story is about a man in his twenties named Michael Skolnik. He was born in March of 1979 and died in June of 2004. He was the only child of his parents. It all started one day while he was doing normal activity, and he passed out in September of 2001. His parents took him to the hospital and a CT scan showed the slight possibility of a colloid cyst, but whatever the two to three millimeter dot was, it was not symptomatic. His mother consulted with a neurosurgeon who said that it was urgent to place Michael in ICU for observation. The neurosurgeon said that Michael needed to have brain surgery within two days. It was supposed to be a three hour operation, and Michael was only supposed to have to spend six days in the hospital. The neurosurgeon explained to Michaelââ¬â¢s mother that he had done many of these procedures before, and that he really didnââ¬â¢t even have to go inside Michaelââ¬â¢s brain to remove the cyst. He said that the cyst was there and was blocking the cerebral spinal fluid from flowing. The three hour operation ended up lasting six hours without a cyst ever being found. Meanwhile, heavy manipulation had been done to Michaelââ¬â¢s brain. His ââ¬Å"six day hospital stayâ⬠became five months in ICU, Twenty-two months in other medical institutions, and the last six months of his life at home, in his parentââ¬â¢s own ICU. Upon the hospitalââ¬â¢s further examination of Michaelââ¬â¢s CT scan, it became evident that the neurosurgeonââ¬â¢s pressure to rush Michael into surgery was unwarranted. This marked the beginning of a Thirty-two month long nightmare of brain surgeries, infections, pulmonary embolisms, respiratory arrest, vision impairment, paralysis, psychosis, severe seizure disorder, short-term memory loss, multiple organ failure, and near total dependence and disability.Michael could not eat, speak, or move anything but his right hand. Almost every day during this traumatic time, Michael w as so miserable that he actually would use his sole limb control to shape his fingers into a gun, and hold them to his temple. This 6ââ¬â¢4â⬠EMT and nursing student was now totally helpless and had the cognitive ability of a third grader. Michaelââ¬â¢s medical bills amounted to be 4. 5 million dollars, and his legal bills were just beginning. His parents listened to a doctor that had claimed to have performed many surgeries finally admit in a legal deposition that Michaelââ¬â¢s procedure had only been his second surgery ever performed.Despite all their attempts to research the doctorââ¬â¢s background, this was the first time they had ever heard the truth about his level of experience. They then knew they had to do something, knowing their son was never going to come back, but they wanted to make sure that it did not happen to anyone elseââ¬â¢s family. Three years after Michaelââ¬â¢s death this parentââ¬â¢s fought for physician profile transparency and disc losure in Colorado. They had found out that there were other medical malpractice cases pending and a number of formal complaints to the Board of Medical Examiners regarding this medical predator. At that time, none of this background information was available to the public, so they worked to change that. On May 24, 2007 Colorado Governor Bill Ritter signed into law ââ¬Å"The Michael Skolnik Medical Transparency Actâ⬠, which became effective on January 2, 2008. In 2009 their organization Colorado Citizens for Accountability,â⬠launched PatientsRightToKnow. org, which allows you to find out what physician background reporting is available to you in your state.

In society, many marriages end up with divorce. Many arguments between spouses become more serious problems which may result in violence because they cannot control their feelings. Moreover, Facebook, Viber and Instagram make communication more convenient, so spouses are easily to get into new relationships with others. These are some common reasons that make modern marriages broken so easily. Among many types of divorce, fault divorce is a common ethical problem in Vietnam because it has bad psychological effects to the people involved and negative results on the children. The fault divorce is a type of divorce in which a spouse requests a divorce because another spouse has made mistakes or done something wrong. Some of the common faults include adultery, physical or emotional abuse, and cruel treatment. For instance, Ms. Nga, my friend in Vietnam, is an example of fault divorce. Her husband had an affair while he married. As the result, they divorced. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Ethical Problem in Fault Divorce" essay for you Create order Fault divorce is unethical because it affects the people involved psychologically. Spouses are hurt and have negative thinking about marriage life. They are afraid to love and remarry, for they are difficult to open their hearts to love other although they are still young. In addition, spouses are also scared that this problem might happen, and they may hurt once again. Back to my previous example, Ms. Nga divorced because her husband had an affair. She was deeply and emotionally hurt. Until now, she still has lived alone although she is very young, twenty-eight years old. She said, I cannot handle this tremendous pain if it happens to my second marriage. Thus, fault divorce makes the involved people be painful and have negative thinking about unhappy marriage. Fault divorce is unethical to children because they have to receive bad effects from their parents divorce although they dont do any wrong. Children are miserable when they live away from either father or mother. Badly, the children have to witness their parents quarrel which are caused a damage in their development, so they tend to fear or have psychological problems. Also, children dont have enough affection from their parents, so children can be involved in social evils and higher crime such as theft, gambling, fighting. For example, Ms. Huong, my neighborhood in Vietnam, divorced her husband in 2005 because he always abused her. Day by day, she could not bear anymore because of his bad actions, so they divorced. Her daughter lived with her and her son lived with her husband. The children felt sad and boring because nobody took care of them. The children dropped out of school early. Also, her daughter fell in love and married early when she was eighteen years old. Her daughter had an unhappy marriage like her. The cycle of life repeats, and their future seems difficult because their parents divorce affected them. In conclusion, these are some reasons that fault divorce is an ethical problem. Spouses who are hurt have to take a long time to appease, and the children live without loving and warmth from both their parents. Therefore, through the essay, I hope that people can realize the importance of marriage life. They should think carefully before deciding to divorce. Life will be better if people condescend, take care of and share everything with each other.
